About Diana Sande

I was born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico and grew up throughout Central and South America before coming to the United States at 17 years old. Nevada has been my home for 21 years. I received my bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in Public Health from the University of Nevada, Reno.  I currently work as the Program Manager of the Black Youth Mental Health Initiative. This is a statewide program that addresses mental health for black youth through the lens of policy.

My husband James and I are blessed to have three kids. I enjoy reading, watching sports with the family, working out, and ballroom dancing.

I’ve dedicated my life to bringing positive change to our community. Understanding that this is a pivotal year for our state, I also felt that our elected officials were not wholly representative of me and my background. I’m a Latina, mother, pro-businesswoman working in higher education in public health. My goal is to amplify a more diverse range of voices currently not being heard.

As a passionate member of the community, I gave back in many ways.  I helped start The Biggest Little Golf Tournament, which raised over $80,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters last year. I’ve served on the board of Big Brothers Big Sisters, The First Tee, Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, advisory member for the Latino Research Center, Go Red for Women, Latino Health Collaborative and Think Kindness.

We have some amazing representatives in the Nevada Legislature, but I know I am the ideal candidate that represents the values of Assembly District 25. My life experiences as well as my beliefs allow me to bring new and more diverse views to our legislature. More importantly, there is a growing divide in our political parties, and I want to help bring civility back to state politics. I feel with my life experiences, that my vision for our state will move us forward, providing more representation for our community and amplifying our voices.
