Diana’s Priorities

Mental Health

There is a mental health crisis sweeping the nation and we have seen increased rates of suicide, and depression.  Sadly, we have seen some of the highest rates amongst children. As someone certified in youth mental health first aid, I am an advocate for mental health and mental health literacy. The rising rates of depression and suicide need comprehensive mental health support and resources. Nevada needs more diverse mental health professionals to provide counsel, support, and treatment to our community members. By prioritizing mental health awareness and access to care, I pledge to support an environment where individuals can seek help and receive the assistance they need to thrive.

Protect the Governor’s Veto

It is of the utmost importance to our state that we ensure Governor Lombardo has the power to veto bills that are not in the best interest of Nevada. The Democrats in the legislature are currently one seat away from veto-proof majorities in both houses. Checks and balances are the bedrock of our democracy, and we need to do everything we can to keep those in place.

Education

I am passionate about high quality education for every child. The involvement of parents in their children’s education, including what children learn and when they learn it, is paramount. Currently students are not achieving in fundamental skills such as reading. To combat lower than average reading levels, I support Read by Grade 3 to measure a child’s success. I wholeheartedly believe that education should not be a one size fits all approach. Improving how we measure and evaluate what works for both teacher and child allows everyone to win. If the child is winning, so is the teacher.

Small Business

I believe in helping small businesses thrive, as they are incredibly important to our community. The pandemic was tough on the businesses in our state. We should be making it easier, not harder for people to do business in Nevada. I will support initiatives that promote innovation and workforce development, such as the partnerships created by Governor Lombardo. A diverse and vibrant small business community contributes to the economic prosperity and resilience of our community.

Public Safety

I view public safety as fundamental to a healthy and prosperous society. I will always advocate for the dedicated men and women who work tirelessly to keep our communities safe. By prioritizing public safety, this ensures that our community members feel safe, secure, and comfortable in their everyday endeavors.
